Ricoh SP 230DNw Overview

The Ricoh SP 230DNw driver lets Windows and Linux computers print to the Ricoh SP 230DNw, a compact A4 black-and-white laser printer with automatic duplex, Ethernet and Wi-Fi. On this page you will find the latest official Drivers and Utilities package (version 1.4.0.0), the XPS printer driver, the standalone GDI printer driver, the macOS Wireless Setup Wizard and the Linux GDI driver packages, each linked to Ricoh's own support servers.

The SP 230DNw is a GDI printer, so it relies on the Ricoh software rather than a PCL or PostScript language. On Windows 11 and Windows 10 the Drivers and Utilities package is the easiest option because it installs the driver and walks you through USB, wired or wireless setup in one go. Mac users normally print through AirPrint, which is built into macOS, and iPhone or Android users can print via AirPrint, Mopria or Wi-Fi Direct. If this is your first time adding a network printer, our printer driver installation guide explains the basics.

How to Install the Ricoh SP 230DNw Driver

  1. Download the Drivers and Utilities package for Windows from the links above (or the Linux package that matches your distribution).
  2. Turn on the SP 230DNw and decide how you will connect it: USB cable, Ethernet cable to your router, or Wi-Fi.
  3. Run the downloaded .exe file; it extracts the installer, then follow the setup wizard and accept the license.
  4. Choose Local Connection (USB), Wired Network or Wireless Network when asked, and let the installer search for the printer.
  5. Print a test page to confirm the SP 230DNw is working, and enable duplex in Printing Preferences if you want two-sided output by default.

On a Mac you usually do not need a separate driver: open System Settings, go to Printers & Scanners, click Add Printer and pick the SP 230DNw with the AirPrint option. Use the Wireless Setup Wizard only if the printer is not yet on your Wi-Fi network. On Windows, if the installer cannot find the printer over the network, print the network configuration page from the printer to check its IP address, make sure your PC is on the same subnet, or connect via USB for the first setup. Choose the XPS driver only if an application specifically needs XPS printing; for normal office use the Drivers and Utilities package is enough.
