Kyocera P2040dw Overview
The Kyocera P2040dw driver is the software your computer needs to print with the Kyocera ECOSYS P2040dw, a fast A4 black-and-white laser printer with duplex, Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct. Below you will find the latest official KX Universal Printer Driver (version 8.7.0422), the KX v4 driver, the XPS and classic PCL/KPDL drivers, plus the Mac Universal Driver and the Linux Universal Driver, all linked directly to Kyocera's own download servers.
Unlike GDI printers, the P2040dw understands PCL 6 and KPDL 3 (PostScript-compatible) natively, so you can choose the driver that suits your setup. For most Windows 11 and Windows 10 PCs, the KX Universal Printer Driver is the best pick because it exposes every feature of the printer, such as duplex, toner save and the optional paper trays. The KX v4 driver follows Microsoft's newer v4 architecture and is a good fit for managed or locked-down business PCs. Need a refresher on adding a network printer? How to Install the Kyocera P2040dw Driver
- Download the KX Universal Printer Driver for Windows, the Mac Universal Driver or the Linux Universal Driver from the links above.
- Connect the P2040dw to your network with an Ethernet cable or join it to Wi-Fi from the printer's control panel; for a direct connection, use a USB cable.
- Extract the downloaded ZIP file, then run Setup.exe on Windows or open the installer package on macOS.
- Choose Express Install (or Custom Install to pick the KX driver and port) and select the P2040dw when the installer finds it on the network or USB.
- Print a test page, then check Device Settings in the driver to confirm duplex and any optional paper trays are enabled.
Not sure which driver to pick? Use the KX Universal Printer Driver for full features, the KX v4 driver on Windows 11 PCs managed by IT, and the classic PCL or KPDL driver only for older software or print servers that need a plain PCL or PostScript queue. If the installer cannot find the P2040dw over the network, print a status page from the printer menu to check its IP address, then add the printer by IP address (Standard TCP/IP port). On macOS you can also add the printer via AirPrint, but the Kyocera Mac driver gives you more finishing and toner-save options.
